Developing the next generation of creative community leaders through mentorship, teaching, service, and reflection. The program is a two-year progression. Year 1 Fellows focus on group teaching, working alongside experienced teaching artists in group classes, while also gaining hours through volunteering for free community events. In Year 2, Fellows choose to take the next step into individual lesson teaching and community service projects that include creating and performing live music for community members in places such as assisted living communities, shelters, hospitals, and correctional facilities.

Each nine-month fellowship includes mentorship, hands-on experience, and plenty of opportunities to learn by doing. Upon completing each year, Fellows receive a certificate and stipend recognizing their work and commitment.

  • Year 1 - Mai.

Hi! My name is Mai McKelvey-Pham, and I'm a senior in high school and I've been playing violin for 10 years and harp for 7. I love music because it challenges me to solve problems. I've played in MYS, MSO, and Montana All-State Orchestra. Other than music, I like to write and craft.

  • Year 1 - Torsten.

My grandmother helped me get started on the violin when I was six. Since then, I've taken lessons continuously, and have enjoyed All-State, Missoula Youth Symphony, state solo and ensemble, music camps in three states, and a European tour with a youth orchestra from Washington. My favorite genre is chamber music, and I'm excited to share my enthusiasm with younger musicians.
